Monk Earthworks consistently demonstrates a visionary approach to our services and a strong passion and care for Central Otago.

The future of earthworks in our region is directly impacted by the fact that we are running out of places to take excess material without huge cost, financially or to the environment.
At Monk Earthworks we pride ourselves on the the fact that every job is approached with an environmentally sustainable focus in mind. We consider recycled materials and what can be used - not removed. In doing so we have what it takes to provide every client with the best possible outcome. 

Sam Monk is the owner and primary operator of Monk Earthworks.

Sam's grandfather - Jim Monk owned the very first digger in the district and to this day the dragline excavator and bucket still sit as a family treasure on the property where Monk Earthworks (and the family home on McDonnell Rd) now operate out of.

His father Roger Monk local pilot, farmer and the man responsible for starting Monk Earthworks, is credited with teaching Sam everything he knows about earthworks.
Roger always dreamed of being able to provide his family with a business and passion to have them here and living close by.

When Sam isn't taking care of "heaps" of your earthworks, you might find him relocating some of that "recycled material" to the family farm to build courses for his motorbike. Otherwise he will be spending time with his young family either snowboarding, mountain biking, golfing or just generally enjoy this spectacular place we call home.

At Monk Earthworks we make sure our team are filled with great local people who understand this Queenstown Lakes region with all its strengths and challenges.  We pride ourselves on having a fantastic group of people, enjoying a positive environment and looking after our staff like we do our customers!
